Terms of service

Last updated 5 October 2026.

1. Who we are

TradesLab is provided by TradesLab Ltd, a company registered in England and Wales (company number 17498144), whose registered office is at 66 Paul Street, London EC2A 4NA, United Kingdom. You can contact us at hello@trades-lab.com.

These terms are a contract between TradesLab Ltd (“we”, “us”) and the business that signs up for TradesLab (“you”, the customer). TradesLab is a service for businesses, not consumers. Trade sections such as LoopLab are part of TradesLab and are covered by these terms.

2. Your account and your team

The person who creates your company account must be authorised to accept these terms for the business. You choose who in your team can use TradesLab and what each person can do (admin, engineer or viewer). You’re responsible for what happens under your account, for the security of your team’s email addresses (sign-in codes are sent to them), and for removing people who should no longer have access. Quick unlock (a PIN or Face ID / fingerprint) is kept on each person’s own device and is a convenience, not a password.

3. Plans, trials and payment

Each plan has a monthly or yearly price and limits (for example the number of team members), shown on the Billing page. New companies get a 14-day free trial with no card needed. Paid plans renew automatically until cancelled. Payments are processed by Stripe. Upgrades take effect straight away; you can move to a smaller plan once your team fits it.

We are not yet registered for VAT, so no VAT is charged at the moment. Once we are registered, prices will be shown and charged plus VAT, and we’ll tell you before that applies to your subscription.

If a payment fails we’ll retry it and give you 14 days to update your card. If a trial ends or a payment stays unpaid after that, your company becomes view only: you can still sign in, view and export everything, but nothing can be changed until a plan is paid. We never delete your data because a payment was missed.

4. Cancelling

You can cancel at any time from the Billing page; your plan runs until the end of the period you’ve paid for. Payments already made aren’t refunded unless the law requires it. Cancelling doesn’t delete your data; deleting your company does (see section 5).

5. Your content

Drawings, photos, notes, records and other information you put into TradesLab (“your content”) belong to you. You give us permission to store, copy and process your content only as needed to provide TradesLab to you, including making the exports and documents you ask for. You must have the right to upload what you upload, and if you record information about other people (such as your clients, site contacts or people who appear in photos) you’re responsible for doing so lawfully.

Your company’s admins can export its data at any time and delete the company, which permanently removes its content from TradesLab (see our privacy policy for how long backups and billing records are kept).

6. Acceptable use

Don’t use TradesLab to break the law, to upload anything harmful or that you don’t have the right to use, to try to access other companies’ data, or to overload, probe or disrupt the service.

7. Calculations, references and documents

TradesLab helps you record and present your work. Its built-in references (such as the BS 5839-1 summary), loop calculations, progress reports, zone charts, handover packs, automatic room names and scale detection are aids, not professional advice or certification. You’re responsible for checking them against manufacturers’ data, the relevant standards and your own design, and for the documents and certificates you issue. TradesLab does not produce certificates; the handover pack’s certificate register is for you to complete.

8. Availability and changes

We work to keep TradesLab available and secure but can’t promise it will always be uninterrupted or error-free, so keep your own copies of anything you must not lose (you can export it at any time). We may improve or change features. If we make a change that significantly reduces what your plan includes, or change these terms, we’ll tell you in advance.

9. Liability

Nothing in these terms limits liability that can’t legally be limited. Otherwise, we aren’t liable for indirect or consequential loss, or loss of profit, revenue or data, and our total liability in any 12 months is limited to the amount you paid us in that period.

10. Personal data

Our privacy policy explains how we handle personal data, including that of your team. For account, billing and website data we are the controller.

For personal data in your content (section 5) you are the controller and we are your processor. We process it only to provide TradesLab, on your instructions given through the app and these terms. We keep it confidential, protect it as the privacy policy describes, use only the service providers it lists (and tell you before adding one), help you answer requests from the people it concerns, tell you without undue delay about any breach affecting it, and give it back through the export and delete it when you delete your company. You can ask us for the information you need to show this is being done.

11. Law

These terms are governed by the law of England and Wales, and the courts of England and Wales have jurisdiction.
